Springtime in the ancient woodlands of southwest Scotland is my favorite season to visit and explore. The fresh greens of new leaves, the vibrant carpet of bluebells, and the soft, dappled sunlight create an atmosphere that feels almost magical. I love the variety of trees, the undulating terrain, and the sense of peace and solitude that comes with walking through these woodlands.
One of the most rewarding aspects of woodland photography is seeking out individual trees with character, those with twisting branches, weathered bark, or a unique presence within the forest. Finding these natural sculptures within the wider landscape allows me to highlight the beauty and personality of the woodland in a more intimate way.
