The rugged section of Dorset coast is steeped in history. Once busy quarries have returned to the elements and are home to sea birds and marine life that anyoy the rock-pools and crevises in between the rocks. These secluded parts of the coast were often used by smugglers to hide barrels of brandy and contraband in the vaults and load them aboard their vessels under the cover of nightfall.
